Sunday June 16th is Father's Day, so you still have plenty of time to order a great gift. But if you and your dad are more into experiences, you're in the right place!
Below are some fun dad-tivities (see, we're getting into the spirit already!), many of which I found on parade.com. A lot of these are things adult children can do with their dads, but some would be great for younger kids too - for example, if the kids help Dad with yard work, they might also learn something useful like how to use a hose or prepare a garden bed!
Outdoors
Go bird watching
Plant a garden or a container
Do yard work
Wash cars
Play mini-golf
Indoors
Have an indoor scavenger hunt with clues leading Dad to his gift
Cook together
Do a puzzle together
Make ice cream
Play old video games
The last one on the list is a favorite of mine! It's linked to an article by Lonely Planet about virtual travel tours, posted in October of 2020 when no one was allowed to travel for pleasure or tourism. However, most of the links are still active and the virtual tours are still available. If you and/or your dad can't physically travel, virtual tours are a way to explore some really intriguing places without all the work and expense of actually going there. You can even take it a step further by ordering or making a meal of foods from that place, if applicable.
I hope these ideas inspire you to do something fun and meaningful with, or in memory of, your dad or the other influential men in your life.
I did promise dad jokes, so here are some of my favorites!
Q: Why can't you trust an atom?
A: Because they make up everything.
Q: Why don't melons get married?
A: Because they cantelope.
Q: What do you call a fake noodle?
A: An impasta.
Q: Why was the mushroom always invited to parties?
A: He was a fungi!
